Frequently Asked Questions

How does telehealth work?

Telehealth lets you connect with Nataliya online, so you can attend sessions from the comfort of your own space, whether that’s at home, in your car, or anywhere you feel safe. You’ll receive the same high-quality care as in-person therapy, with the added benefit of flexibility and convenience. It’s easy to use: you don’t need to download anything, just click the secure link we send you and join the session using your phone, laptop, or tablet. The platform we use is private and confidential, meaning your information is protected and your sessions stay between you and Nataliya, just like they would in person. All you need is a stable internet connection and we’ll guide you through the rest.

I want to book. What happens next?

It’s really important to us that you feel safe, supported, and understood in therapy, and that starts with making sure we’re the right service for your needs. Everyone’s journey is different, and having the right psychologist and approach can make a big difference in how the experience is. By reviewing your request first, we can make sure we’re the best match for what you're going through. If we feel another service might be better suited, we’ll be transparent and help to guide you in the right direction.

If it seems like we’re a good fit, you’ll receive a welcome email with everything you need to get started, including a few intake forms. These forms help us understand what matters most to you, so we can dive right into the important work from the start. We’ll also work with you to organise a schedule of appointments for continuity of care.

What should I expect in my first few sessions?

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it's completely normal to have questions or feel unsure. From the moment you reach out, you'll be met with compassion, honesty, and zero pressure. This space is yours to explore, to pause, to heal.

The first session is a gentle conversation about what’s bringing you to therapy, what you’re hoping for, and how Nataliya can best support you. You’re welcome to share as much or as little as you like, there’s no need to have it all figured out. That’s exactly what Nataliya is here to help you with.

The sessions are 50 minutes long and take place online via telehealth. We’ve designed therapy to be flexible, so whether you prefer weekly, fortnightly, or monthly sessions, we’ll find a schedule that works for you. You’re always in control of the pace and direction, with therapy adapting to meet you where you’re at and supporting you through whatever life brings.

Nataliya draws on evidenced-based modalities with a focus on attachment, trauma, and neuro-affirming practices. But at the core of her work is a genuine connection.

You’re welcome just as you are. Together, we’ll take things at your pace, one step at a time.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, goal-oriented therapy that helps individuals recognise and modify unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors. It is grounded in the idea that our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are interconnected, and that by changing unhelpful thought patterns, we can positively impact our emotions and behaviors.

ACT can be used to address a variety of mental health concerns, and helps individuals learn practical skills that they can apply in everyday life to reduce suffering, increase psychological flexibility, and live more authentically according to their values.

  • We believe all individuals have the right to a confidential, supportive space to express their thoughts and feelings. We are committed to maintaining clients' privacy and safeguarding their personal information. We will not release any information without the client's informed consent, unless required by law through a court subpoena.

In line with the ethical guidelines of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), we uphold the following principles:

    • All personal information is protected under the Privacy Act of 2002, and client records are securely stored.

    • Informed consent is a fundamental aspect of ethical psychological practice and must be obtained before treatment begins. This process ensures that clients are fully informed about the nature, purpose, potential risks, and benefits of the treatment. Clients are provided with clear and comprehensive information, allowing them to make an autonomous decision regarding their participation. It is essential that the client has the opportunity to ask questions, discuss concerns, and withdraw consent at any time during treatment. This approach promotes transparency, trust, and respect for the client's rights throughout the therapeutic process.

    • Information regarding diagnosis and treatment recommendations may be shared with the referring practitioner (e.g., GP, psychiatrist, or pediatrician) when necessary.

    • Confidentiality is fundamental to the therapeutic relationship. In the case of clients aged under 18 years, information shared by the client will not be disclosed to the parent. We encourage open communication between the client and parent, but ultimately, it is the client’s choice regarding what information they wish to share and their boundaries should be respected. We may provide a general summary of the session (e.g., topics discussed, or strategies used) when appropriate.

    • The limits of confidentiality will be clearly explained in the intake process to all parties involved in the clients theraputic journey. We will break confidentiality where risk and safety are concerned.

    • In cases of separated families, we encourage consent and both parents' involvement, unless a court order specifies otherwise. We do not act as a mediator, prepare court reports for those involved in legal proceedings or share detailed session information between parents. We do not provide couple therapy or group therapy. We encourage separated families to seek involvement in external services such as Relationships Australia: https://www.relationships.org.au/

  • We respect your time, money, and efforts and are committed to providing the highest standard of care.
